Global Civic Forum: Strengthening Communities & Deepening Ties – Pobail á Neartú & Naisc á nDoimhniú

The Citizens Information Board (CIB) was delighted to participate in the Global Irish Civic Forum, an initiative of the Irish Government to engage with the Irish diaspora from around the world, in Croke Park 30 April and 1 May 2026.

CIB had the opportunity to showcase its Returning to Ireland portal on citizensinformation.ie which gives essential support and information to people thinking about returning to Ireland after living abroad.

The Forum takes place every two years bringing together organisations working with Irish diaspora communities. Over 250 people from 21 countries attended including representatives from Irish communities in Britain, the USA, Australia, the Middle East and Europe. Many of the attendees dropped by the Returning to Ireland stand to pick up a leaflet and find out about the work we do.

The new Diaspora Strategy launched at the Forum by Minister of State for International Development and Disaspora, Neale Richmond TD, recognises the key role played by CIB and its Returning to Ireland portal in providing information to the diaspora. The Returning to Ireland project looks forward to continuing our role in providing clear and timely information to Irish citizens and their families, no matter where in the world they are.
