Clonmel CIC launched by Minister Dara Calleary on 16 April 2026

Clonmel Citizens Information Centre’s (CIC) new premises at Tower House, Wood Quy was officially launched opened by the Minister for Social Protection, and the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD on Thursday 16 April 2026.

Graham Long, Chief Executive Officer, Citizens Information Board attending the event said:

“The Citizens Information Board is delighted to see Clonmel Citizens Information Centre open the doors of its new town-centre home. This modern, welcoming, and fully accessible premises reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring people can access clear, trusted information and support when they need it.

Clonmel CIC has a long and proud history of serving the community, and this new location strengthens that tradition for the years ahead. I want to acknowledge the hard work of staff and volunteers whose dedication has brought us to this milestone, and I wish them every success as they continue supporting the people of Clonmel and surrounding areas.”

Clonmel CIC began operating from its new premises on 5 January 2026, marking a significant milestone in its long service to the community.

The move comes nearly five decades after Clonmel CIC was first established on 4 May 1979 by then Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Charles Haughey.

The new premises is designed to offer a greatly enhanced experience for the Clonmel community. Facilities include:

The relocation marks the next chapter for Citizens Information in Clonmel, strengthening its ability to continue providing trusted advice, information and support to individuals and families across the town and surrounding areas.
