MABS and ATU successful in Dr. Brendan McCormack UDL Award
The Citizens Information Board (CIB) warmly congratulates the Money Advice and Budgeting Services (MABS) and the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) on winning the Dr. Brendan McCormack Universal Design for Learning Award for their Financial Readiness for Life online course. The award is a well-deserved recognition of the excellent work being done by MABS in financial education.
Designed using Universal Design for Learning principles, the Financial Readiness for Life course offers clear, plain-English content, flexible self‑paced delivery, and a blend of text, audio, video and interactive elements. This accessible approach removes barriers and supports for student learners with different needs and preferences.
The course was developed by MABS and ATU in response to financial pressures students face, and provides a dedicated, student-focused financial literacy resource. Its impact has been significant, with high enrolment, positive feedback, and adoption across other higher education institutions in Ireland and the European Union.
CIB extends our congratulations to all involved in this innovative and impactful project. It is a fantastic example of how collaboration and thoughtful design can make a real difference in people’s lives.
