Citizens Information Board launches Insights report ‘Ageing at Home: Supporting older people to remain in their communities’
This report is the second in the ‘Insights’ series, policy reports which draw on the experiences of the public when seeking assistance from CIB’s funded services. In analysing and presenting these concerns, CIB intends to make a constructive, evidence-based contribution to Government policymaking and to the provision of public services that meet people’s complex and ever-changing needs.
‘Ageing at Home’ presents feedback from the Citizens Information Services on health and social care supports for people aged 66 and over in 2023 and 2024. During this period, over 20,000 people were assisted with over 28,000 health-related queries, indicating a continuing high demand for information and assistance from this age cohort. Their queries mainly concerned the Medical Card, GP Visit card, GP services, dental, aural, optical (eye) health, as well as the Long-Term Illness Scheme and the Home Support Service.
