Minister Dara Calleary officially launches Liberties Citizens Information Centre
The Citizens Information Board was pleased to attend the official launch of the Liberties Citizens Information Centre (CIC) in Dublin on 10 September 2025. The event was marked by the presence of Minister for Social Protection, and the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD who formally opened the new premises in Usher Street.
Welcoming the opening of the new centre, Minister Calleary said:
“The Citizens Information Centre is at the heart of the community, providing independent essential information, advice and advocacy servcies to many, particularly the vulnerable in our society. The new centre will continue the strong tradition of being there to help when support needed and I wish the team every success with their future work here in the Liberties.”
The new centre, offers a comprehensive information, advice and advocacy service to the local community, including six weekly walk-in clinics, appointment-based consultations, and a call-back service. It also operates an outreach clinic at the Carmelite Centre in Aungier Street.
Liberties CIC is currently responding to over 1,000 queries per month, supporting individuals across a wide range of issues including social welfare, housing, healthcare, education, employment, and immigration.
As one of nine Citizens Information Centres service the Dublin South area, Liberties CIC plays a vital role in ensuring access to reliable and confidential support for the public.
Representing the Citizens Information Board at the launch were Graham Long, Chief Executive Designate; Carmel Beirne, Head of Compliance and Reporting; and Claire Kellegher, Operational Compliance and Reporting Manager.
