Level 2
Courses at Level 2 are for Information Providers who have completed the Information Providers Programme (IPP) and have a good understanding of the course topic or have at least one year's experience of giving information to the public.

Aim    
This training is to give Information Providers the skills and knowledge to advise clients facing a change in family circumstances following bereavement, family breakdown or unemployment/business failure.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course participants should be able to:

  • explain initial options in cases of family breakdown, bereavement, unemployment, ill health and addiction
  • devise key practical steps to control finances
  • outline the different types of legal ownership e.g. joint tenancy v tenancy in common etc.
  • devise which Family Law remedies can be used to assist clients / Variation and Attachment of Earnings, Enforcement Orders etc.
  • explain the effects of the Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act 2010 following family breakdown or death
  • advise on the possible methods of managing the financial consequences of family breakdown
  • advise on dealing with harassment
  • outline protections under the Consumer Credit Act 1995 and Consumer Protection Code
  • explain the Court procedures such as Statement of Means and Budget Plans; Mareva Injunction (freezing of Assets), repossession, Judgement Orders, and Judgement Mortgages
  • advise on where to access emergency, short-term and long-term support (practical, financial and psychological)
  • make appropriate referral.
