Aim    
This training is to give participants the knowledge and skills to explore a query, looking at options to enhance the income of those on welfare payments. 

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course participants should be able to:

  • explain how social welfare payments may be affected as a result of the applicant, their spouse/civil partner or cohabitant taking up part-time work
  • demonstrate how the Family Income Supplement can enhance family finances for those working part-time or on low pay.
  • explain how income from a C.E. Scheme can improve the financial position of those suffering from an illness or parenting alone
  • explain the effect of additional income on Rent Supplement and secondary benefits
  • explain the taxation of social welfare payments and how tax credits may be transferred to spouse or civil partner
  • explain how some people on welfare payments may retain their medical card when returning to work
