Courses at Level 2 are for Information Providers who have completed the Information Providers Programme (IPP) and have a good understanding of the course topic or have at least one year's experience of giving information to the public.

Aim    
This training is to ensure that learners are able to provide information on family law including recently enacted legislation.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course participants should be able to:

  • identify and define spouses, civil partners, cohabitees and other family types
  • state the main legislative provisions relating to marriage, marriage breakdown, separation and divorce
  • outline the main family law issues arising relating to family breakdown in the current recession with a particular focus on issues relating to children and property.
  • state the main provisions Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act 2010; State the general status of children in married and unmarried relationships in relation to guardianship, rights of parents, grandparents and financial support in the case of marital/non-marital relationship breakdown
  • state the legal options available to those within abusive families
  • state the main differences between the rights and obligations of non-marital partners; cohabitees; civil partners and spouses.
