Courses at Level 2 are for Information Providers who have completed the Information Providers Programme (IPP) and have a good understanding of the course topic or have at least one year's experience of giving information to the public.

Aim    
This training is to help potential Volunteer Co-ordinators prepare for the role of volunteer co-ordinator by examining their key tasks and consider how to effectively introduce the role in the first year.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course participants should be able to:

  • identify the key tasks involved in the role of Volunteer Co-ordinator (Job Description)
  • explain the core components of volunteer coordination and the benefits
  • outline the relationship between the Volunteer Co-ordinator and Development Manager and the responsibilities of their roles
  • explain the benefits of volunteer coordination to the team
  • design a work plan for the year in conjunction with their Development Manager
  • evaluate options on how to phase in their work plan in the first year
  • design a checklist of core administration tasks
  • deal with the challenges of the role
  • use effective support and supervision including peer support.
