Aim    
To provide advanced training in employment advocacy, building on participants accrued knowledge and experience in this area.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course participants should be able to:

  • outline the application and pre-hearing procedures associated with employment related claims to the Rights Commissioner Service and to the Employment Appeals Tribunal
  • recognise clients employment claims through use of focused instructions
  • explain the format and drafting of written submissions to the Rights Commissioner
  • display confidence in taking clients through evidence at hearing and in cross-examining witnesses for the respondent
  • explain the jurisdiction of the Rights Commissioner and the Employment  Appeals Tribunal
  • advise clients of the appeal mechanisms that are in place to appeal decisions of the Rights Commissioner and the Employment Appeals Tribunal
