Welcome to the Citizens Information Board e-bulletin on funding. The Citizens Information Board (formerly Comhairle) is the national agency responsible for supporting the provision of information, advice and advocacy on social services in Ireland.
The aim of the e-bulletin is to disseminate information relevant to funding and support for voluntary and community work in Ireland. The e-bulletin is organised into two main sections:

The information is compiled by Create, the national development agency for collaborative arts. Additional information is included in print format in The Irish Fundraising Handbook, which complements the online resource.

Anti-Sectarianism Fund – Department of Foreign Affairs
The Fund will assist local efforts to tackle sectarianism, supporting communities seeking new and more effective ways of addressing division. Grants will be given to develop new projects that challenge intolerance and sectarianism and break down barriers between people caused by religious and cultural differences. Small Grants 2008 - Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force
The Task Force invites applications for once-off Small Grant funding from Community, Cultural, and Voluntary groups that are not eligible for funding from another source. Arts and Disability Awards Ireland 2008 - Arts and Disability Forum
The aim of the Awards is to challenge and inspire creativity, experimentation and artistic excellence. The scheme is open to disabled artists and partnerships of disabled artists living in all 32 counties of Ireland and working in any artform. The Arts in Public Spaces, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation
The Foundation has a number of programmes, including this one, now in its final year, which tends to support professional artists and arts organisations at an early stage of development and will prioritise those in rural areas to involve and inspire people living locally. New Young Ensembles Scheme - the Arts Council
This is a pilot scheme for groups of young people (12-23 years) working collaboratively to create art across a range of art forms. Organisations supporting or hosting ensembles are also eligible. The aim is to support the development of artistic practice in an out-of-schools context. It prioritises artistic vision, coupled with a process that values participation, creativity and critical. Medium Grants 2008 - The Irish Youth Foundation
The foundation is currently inviting pre-registered community and voluntary groups working in preventative and educational ways with children and young people who are marginalised or at risk to apply for medium grants (up to €15,000). EU Culture Programme 2007-2013
Strand 1.3 will support a small number of projects for up to 2 years with consortia in at least 3 EU countries and in Brazil. There is no indication of which countries may be prioritised in future years. Deadline - 1 June 2008.
The Commission will publish calls for support for cooperation projects and translation projects under the Culture Programme in June 2008. eContentplus Programme 2005-2008 - European Commission
eContenplus is intended to make digital content in Europe more accessible, usable and exploitable. This is a call for proposals for indirect actions, networks and projects in relation to geographic information, education content, and digital libraries. Young Musicwide Award Programme 2008 - Music Network
The programme is designed to provide emerging and talented musicians or groups with an incentive to pursue a professional career. An audition process in September will select an Irish or Ireland based traditional Irish ensemble to participate in the programme for three years. Preparatory Action International - EU MEDIA Programme 2007-2013
Preparatory Action International is intended to examine and test cooperation activities between European film professionals and professionals of third countries and it will focus on support for training, promotion, and the development of cinema networks. PEACE III Priority 1: 2 Strand 3, Securing the Future - Border Action
The SEUPB has announced a number of calls for applications for projects focused on reconciling communities in NI and the border counties that are strategic in nature and concentrate on areas and groups affected by conflict. Information is available online at www.seupb.org. Border Action and the NI Community Relations Council deliver a number of strands including this one, which will mostly support actions led by statutory agencies. The Artist in the Community Scheme 2008 - Create
Twice yearly, the Arts Council offers grants to enable artists and communities of place and/or interest to work together on projects through this scheme, managed by Create. Phase 1 (research + development) is open to artists; Phase 2 (project realisation) is open to communities. Development Education Grant Scheme 2007 – Irish Aid
Irish Aid, the Government's official development assistance programme, invites applications from voluntary organisations and educational bodies for grants for development education projects to increase awareness and understanding of development issues. Dormant Accounts Fund - Traveller Interagency and Communications Fund (Round 3) - Pobal
This Fund continues the work of the Fund for Interagency Projects In Relation to the Traveller Community and includes a new Communications strand. Strand 1 is only open to County/City Development Boards. Strand 2 will support communications and relationships between communities and within the Traveller community with a national or regional dimension. Dormant Accounts Fund - Enhancing Disability Services - Pobal
This is the final round of this initiative, aimed at disability organisations operating at a national/regional level that can demonstrate an innovative and cost effective approach to service provision and have the capacity to be mainstreamed. Initiatives must be operated by at least two organisations working in partnership and be completed by March 2010. Dormant Accounts Fund - Preschool Quality Improvement - Centre for Early Childcare Development and Education
This new measure is open to preschools that feed into the Department of Education and Science DEIS Urban Band 1 Primary Schools. The aim is to support and improve quality as outlined in Síolta, The National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education. Media Research Funding Scheme 2008 - Broadcasting Commission of Ireland

International Arts Grants - Culture Ireland
Culture Ireland offers awards to Irish artists or arts organisations to facilitate participation at strategic international arts events in other countries of Irish cultural activities of excellence. The ‘Come and See' part of the Arts Council Travel and Training Award will be offered by Culture Ireland after 1 June 2008. Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust
The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust aims to fund work which will contribute to the ongoing development of a just and peaceful society in the island of Ireland. Small Grants Scheme - Community Foundation for Ireland
Many community or voluntary groups qualify for grant support, including those providing support for carers, social networks, local respite initiatives, networks and structures for sexual and ethnic minorities, initiatives involving parents and children at risk of exclusion. Simon Cumbers Media Challenge Fund - Connect-World and Irish Aid

Step Beyond Travel Fund - European Cultural Foundation
The Foundation supports collaboration and networking between young Europeans. In 2008, the fund is available to artists and cultural operators, activists, journalists, translators and researchers. It will contribute to travel, visa, and, in certain cases, accommodation costs. For information visit www.eurocult.org Deadline - at least eight weeks before the date of travel.
Training Grants for Adult Education Staff - Leargas

Fundraising codes of practice - ICTR launch and regional seminars
The ICTR report Regulation of Fundraising by charities through legislation and codes of practice and General Statement of Guiding Principles for Fundraising will be launched in Dublin on 14 May 2008. A series of regional seminars - Dundalk (19 May), Sligo (20 May), Galway (21 May), Cork (22 May) and Kilkenny (23May) - will report , indicate the next steps in terms of implementation, and update on the latest developments with the Charities Bill 2007. Ireland Donates is a new online exchange portal for charities and NGO's. This new service can be used to request or donate items/services to help others such as furniture, computers, software, equipment, expertise, transport, advertising etc. This service is free.
