An Information Pack for Immigrants in Clare was launched by the Mayor of Clare, Cllr. Tony Mulcahy at the Offices of Clare County Council recently. It provides essential information about a range of services available in the county to make moving easier for newcomers, whether they are coming from other parts of Ireland or from another country.
It provides essential service information on topics such as policing, health, education and training and employment to help all those who come to settle in Co. Clare. The eight sections contain the information and contacts that people taking part in immigrant focus group research indicated were needed for those newly resident in Co. Clare. The project was funded by the Citizens Information Board, HSE, Clare Immigrant Support Centre and the European Integration Fund. A series of workshops are being organised by the Citizens Information Service in Clare and the Immigrant Support Centre throughout the county aimed at bringing this Information to new communities in the area.
The guide is available in English, Polish and Russian and is free of charge from County Council offices, Health Service Centres, FAS offices, Citizens Information Centres, VEC offices, Tax offices, the Department of Social & Family Affairs and from other community resource centres.
The launch was the culmination of a years work by the steering group consisting of Sarah Togher, Citizens Information Board, Paul Woulfe, Manager, Clare Citizens Information Service, Orla Ni Eili, Clare Immigrant Support Centre, Aine Mellet, HSE and Karl Quinn, Clare VEC.
