Fingal CIC wins Best Public Service Award
Fingal CIC have won the 'Best Public Service Award' at the Fingal Dublin Chamber Business Excellence and CSR Awards 2018, held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry, recently. The service is part of the North Dublin Citizens Information Service.
The gala event was hosted by Marty Whelan with over 500 guests in attendance. The service was also short-listed for 'Best Not For Profit Organisation and 'Best Customer Service - Services Sector. The Manager of the service, Andrew McCann, gave an emotional acceptance speech as he explained the difficulties he had experienced over the past few years which included the death of his wife and a cancer diagnosis.
“I have now recovered and met a lovely lady who I married in July and this award is the icing on the cake”, he said. He thanked the Chair of his Board and his staff who supported him throughout the difficult times.
In 2017, Fingal Citizens Information Centre supported over 180,000 people in North Fingal, answering over 24,000 queries and connecting with over 18,500 callers. The service, via its four centres in Swords, Skerries, Balbriggan and Malahide, opens to the public for over 125 hours per week via its team of over 80 people, including volunteers. The service won awards of over €56,000 for its clients in 2017, and closed 60 complex advocacy cases.
