Clare Citizens Information Service proves popular at Clare Age Expo

April 2016

Clare CIS dealt with a wide range of queries at the recent Clare Age Expo event at the award winning Health and Wellness Centre in Newmarket-on-Fergus, Co Clare. The event showcased the range of health and social services available in the county. Organised in partnership with Clare Age Friendly County programme, there was a large exhibition of both voluntary and commercial services available in Clare.

Information officers from Clare CIS had a number of queries on pensions, tax, social welfare and entitlements for older people. "Provision of information to older people is a key focus of this event. It is important to ensure they are aware of all their entitlements and how to claim them" said Paul Ryan, Information Officer with Ennis Citizens Information Centre and member of the organising committee. The Citizens Information Mobile Information Unit was also on display with a wide range of application forms, Information booklets and leaflets and staff on hand to offer independent information and advice.

A routine health screening service was offered to those attending on both days. A tea dance also took place on the Saturday to mark the event.
